Olga Piscacek Hegar, 91, of West, passed away Tuesday, June 19, 2007, in Waco. The family will receive visitors from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel. A rosary will be recited and Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption with the Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Burial will follow at West Brethren Cemetery. Olga was born in West, Texas, to Innocent F. and Magdalene Piscacek. She was raised in the West area and attended St. Mary's School then West High School. On Feb. 16, 1938, she was united in marriage to Walter Hegar in Temple. Olga was a homemaker and worked at Providence Hospital in Waco for a few years. Their daughter Barbara was born June 26, 1944, in Waco, she was a special needs child that doctors said would live only a few years. But with Olga's special love, and constant care and devotion, she lived to be 44 and passed away August 31, 1988. Thus began a new chapter in her life, she loved volunteering at the West Senior Center and took a great interest in special education and activities for special needs children, which of course she poured in her heart and soul. She also loved to sew, cook and crochet. Olga was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption. She was preceded in death by her husband, on Dec. 27, 1981; parents; brothers, Hubert Piscacek and Innocent Piscacek; and sisters, Sister Adele Piscacek, Bennie Soukup and Marie Hegar. Survivors include many step-grandchildren, step-great- grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of close friends. Waco Tribune-Herald: 6/21/2007...R1
