Emil J. Nemec, age 86, a lifelong resident of West passed away October 27, 1994, at his residence. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated October 29 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption with Rev. Ed. Karasek and Rev. Melvin Dornak as co-celebrants. Burial followed in St. Mary's Cemetery near West. Mr. Nemec was born July 6, 1908 in West. He was the son of Paul and Mary Nemec. He married Olga A. Gerik on January 12, 1937, in West. She preceded him in death on September 5, 1994. He was a barber for over 40 years before retiring in 1986. He worked at the Officers Club at James Connally Air Force Base in Waco for many years and also worked at barber shops in West and Elm Mott. He and his wife were active volunteers for church functions at Geneva Hall in Elm Mott. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 2305 and the K.J.T. Society No. 31, both of West. He was also a lifelong member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption for over 20 years. He is survived by two sons, Larry Nemec of West and Anthony Nemec of Dallas; two daughters, Emily Polansky of West and Jeanette Herring of Dallas; two brothers, Frank Nemec and Vince Nemec, both of West; one sister, Adele Snapka of Dallas; seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Jimmy Nemec, Louis Nemec, Jr., Steve Nemec, Stanley Nemec, Arnold Kasberg and William Grellhesl. Aderhold Funeral Home in West was in charge of arrangements.
