Benjamin Kolar, age 70, of Rt. 1, West, passed away Monday, December 24, 1984 at West Community Hospital. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, Msgr. George Doskocil as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Rosary was recited at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. B.J. Zientek. Mr. Kolar was born January 19, 1914 in West. He moved to California in 1935 and owned and operated a grocery and meat market in Los Angeles until 1980 when he retired and moved back to West. He married Doris Goodfellow in 1941. He was formerly a member of the Pasadena Elks Club and Charter Member of the Highland Park Optimist Club in Los Angeles. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption. He served in World War II in the United States Navy aboard a Merchant Marine Ship. He is survived by his wife, Doris of Rt. 1, West; two daughters, Mrs. Tom (Carole) Rainey of Bunsall, California and Mrs. James (Dorene) Lent of Long Beach, California; two brothers, Joe Kolar of Houston and Leo Kolar of Los Angeles, California; four sisters, Hattie Kocian and Emily Horsak, both of West, Willie Mae Vavra of Ennis and Irene Cmelka of Houston; two grandchildren, Brian Rainey and Coleen Rainey of Bunsall, Ca., and several nieces and nephews.
