Emily A. Horsak, 93, of West, passed away Saturday morning, Dec. 10, 2005 at a Hillsboro nursing home. Rosary will be recited at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:45 p.m. at St. Mary's Church of the Assumption in West with the Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in West. Mrs. Horsak was born Jan. 14, 1912 in West to Joseph Kolar and Anna Lenart Kolar, who both preceded her in death. She married Joe L. Horsak in 1935 and he also preceded her in death in 1983. She attended West schools and was employed at the Famous Dry Goods Store for over 31 years. After she retired, she was a volunteer at West Community Hospital and West Rest Haven for many years. Mrs. Horsak was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Church of the Assumption in West, K.J.Z.T. Society #11 and the Catholic Daughters of America Court #829. She made many friends who joined her bridge club at her home. She also enjoyed entertaining her family for dominoes and Tarokey games. Among other activities she enjoyed were baking, sewing, gardening, yard work and spending time with her first dog, Suzy and her second dog, Mitzi. Mrs. Horsak was also preceded in death by her brothers, Leo Kolar, Ben Kolar and Joseph Kolar; and sisters, Hattie Kocian and Irene Cmelka. She is survived by a sister, Willie Mae Vavra of Ennis; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Kotch Funeral Home, West, Texas, in charge of arrangements.
