Requiem Mass Held Mon. For V.E. Kocian V. E. (Jim) Kocian, 81, of West, died at 5:30 p.m. Saturday in a Hillsboro hospital. Requiem mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West with Rev. George Doskocil as celebrant. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery in West. Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Sunday in Kotch Funeral Home Chapel. Mr. Kocian was born in Fayette County and had lived in Penelope most of his life. He had lived in West since 1961. He was a retired farmer. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in West, and a member of Woodmen of the World. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Frances Kocian; one son, Charlie Kocian of Dallas; four daughters, Mrs. Jim (Regina) Holacka, Mrs. F.L. (Christine) Vanek, both of West, Mrs. Andrew (Frances) Beseda of Penelope, and Mrs. Walter (Delma) Hutyra of Dallas; five brothers, August Kocian of West, Joe Kocian of Penelope, John Kocian of Morton, Frank Kocian of Waco and Steve Kocian of Marlin; three sisters, Mrs. George (Sophie) Abrams of Bremond, Mrs. Louis (Agnes) Lenart of West and Mrs. Annie Sembera of Los Angeles, Calif.; 15 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Victor Pavlas, Jr., and Charlie Pavlas of Abbott, Ted Kocian, Alvin Pavlas and Albin Kocian, all of West and Sam Abraham of Bremond.
