Private First Class William P. Klimitchek was a member of the 279th Infantry Regiment, 45th Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action while fighting the enemy in North Korea on October 13, 1952. Private First Class Klimitchek was awarded the Purple Heart, the Combat Infantryman's Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the Korean War Service Medal. William Klimitchek, 23, West's third fatal casualty of the Koreean War, will be held here at 9:30 o'clock Saturday morning in the Church of the Assumption with the Rev. E.J. Polcak officiating. Rosary will be recited at Aderhold Chapel tonight at 7:30 o'clock. Pfc. Klimitchek's body arrived in West today at noon from Korea. The West American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars posts will be in charge of graveside services at St. Mary's Cemetery. Pfc Klimitchek had served in Korea only three months with the 45th Division when he was killed on October 13. He was a member of an ambush patrol of the 279th Infantry Regiment of the 45th Division. Pfc. Klimitchek, a life-long resident of West, was born here on May 12, 1929, and attended St. Mary's and West High Schools. He entered the service on Feb. 13, 1951 and spent his last leave at home in July before being assigned to duty in Korea. Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Klimitchek; two brothers, Leo and Fred, both of West; two sisters, including his twin sister, Mrs. Frank Podsednik of Temple, and Miss Stacie Klimitchek of West.
