Anastasia (Stacie) Cihlar, age 78 of West, passed away Saturday morning, October 7, 2000 in West Rest Haven. Rosary was recited 11 a.m. Monday ion St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated 11:15 a.m. Monday in St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, with the Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Burial followed in St. Mary's Cemetery near West. Mrs. Cihlar was born November 13, 1921 in Hallettsville, the daughter of Paul and Millie Klimitchek. She attended St. Mary's School and West High School, graduating in 1940. She then went to Draughns Business School in Dallas and was employed in Washington, D. C. during World War II. She returned to the West area in 1947 and worked at Connally Air Force Base and later at the Veterans Administration office in Waco, retiring in 1980. Mrs. Cihlar was a member of Str. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption of West, the Altar Society, K.J.Z.T. Society No. 11, Catholic Daughters of America Court No. 829 of West and the Ladies Auxiliary of V.F.W. Post No. 4819 of West. She married Joe Cihlar on June 22, 1954. He preceded her in death on August 27, 1995. She was also preceded in death by her parents and three brothers. Survivors include one sister, Willie Mae Podsednik and her husband Frank of Elm Mott; one sister-in-law, Mary Klimitchek of West; one aunt, Josephine Klimitchek of Hallettsville; two nephews, Larry Podsednik and his wife Kathy of West and Will Podsednik and his wife Gina of Burke, Virginia; two nieces, Marie Dulak and her husband Frank of West Columbia and Cindy Bollerman and her husband Everett of Colleyville and several great-nieces, nephews and other relatives. Active Pallbearers were Larry Podsednik, Everett Bollerman, Frank Dulak, Joe Edd Grimm, Charles Klimitchek and Danny Ray Pratka. Honorary Pallbearers were members of the Catholic Daughters of America Court No. 829 of West. Kotch Funeral Home on West was in charge of arrangements.
