Sgt. A.S. Kapavik Dies at Denver Shortly before press time we learned of the death of S. Sgt. Alfons S. Kapavik, who passed away at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Station Hospital, Denver, Colo. The body is scheduled to arrive here sometime Friday. Funeral services will be held from the residence of J.C. Karlik at 9:30 a.m. Saturday and at the Catholic Church at 10 a.m., Rev. E.J. Polcak officiating. Interment will be at the Catholic cemetery. Sgt. Kapavik, whose mother resides in West, had been in the army for five years. He had been in the hospital for the past four months. Kapavik Funeral services for Sgt. Alfons S. Kapavik, who died in the U.S. Army hospital at Denver, Colorado on Wednesday, Dec. 11, were held here at the Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Saturday, Rev. E.J. Polcak officiating, burial in the Catholic cemetery. Members of the West Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion conducted military services at the cemetery, the V.F.W. providing a firing squad and Legion members acting as pallbearers. Sg.t Kapavik had been in the army for five years, the past four months spent in the hospital at Denver. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Ann Kapavik of Waco; one son, Daniel Lee Kapavik; his mother, Mrs. Anna Kapavik of West; three brothers, Frank Kapavik of West, Rudolph Kapavik of Abbott and Emil Kapavik of Waco; three sisters, Mrs. Annie Karlik of West, Mrs. Hattie Matus of Hillsboro and Mrs. Lillie Pendleton of Waco.
