Joe L. Horsak, age 74, of 601 W. Highland, passed away at 1 a.m. Monday, December 19 at West Community Hospital. Mr. Horsak was born January 13, 1909 in West and had lived here all his life. He was a graduate of Texas A&M College and taught High School Shop for 29 years for the West Independent School District, retiring in 1973. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption and Knights of Columbus No. 2305 of West. He married Emily Kolar in West May 7, 1935. He is survived by his wife, Emily, of West; one brother, Ollie L. Horsak of Waco, and several nieces and nephews. Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday, December 20 at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel by Msgr. George Doskocil. Mass of Christian Burial was at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, Msgr. George Doskocil as celebrant. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery. Pallbearers were Clifford Horsak, Gary Cmelka, Wilford Grimm, Calvin Kolar, Ted Kocian and Kenneth Vavra. The West News, West, Texas, Volume 93, No. 51, Ed. 1, Thursday, December 22, 1983, page 7.
