Mrs. Julia Holacka, age 98 of West, passed away January 15, 1999 in West Rest Haven. Rosary was recited at 1:30 p.m. January 17 in St. Mary's Catholic Church of he Assumption in West, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 1:45 p.m., with Rev. Walter Matus as celebrant. Burial followed in St. Mary's Cemetery near West. Mrs. Holacka was born December 6, 1900 in Moravia, Texas. She married Frank Holacka on November 17, 1920 in Moravia and had lived in West since 1920. Mrs. Holacka was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, a charter member of the Catholic Daughters of America Court 829 and was a member of S.P.J.S.T. Lodge #54 for over 75 years. She was a graduate of Baldwin Business College of South Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband, who died August 25, 1972; one grandson, Tim Haberl and son-in-law Henry Tobola. Survivors include three daughters, Margaret M. Haberl and husband A.C. of West, Dolores Tobola of Grand Prairie and Barbara and husband James A. (Blackie) Snelson of Abilene; two half-brothers, Raymond Hilscher of Stamford and J.W. Hilscher of Houston; one half-sister, Ann Weaver of Taylor; 15 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren and two step-grandchildren. Active Pallbearers were Malcolm Haberl, Frank Haberl, Mark Tobola, Brit Tobola, Charles Snelson, Tyce Tobola and James Snelson III. Honorary Pallbearer was Tim Haberl. The family received visitors from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. January 16 at Kotch Funeral Home in West. Kotch Funeral Home in West was in charge of arrangements.
