------------------------- Maria Chromcak Blahuta Hilscher was the daughter of Ignatius (Ignac or Ignatz) Chromcak and Agnes Petter. Her death certificate spells her mother’s name as Peter and her brother’s spells it Petters. In Moravia, Austria, now Czechoslovakia, it was probably Ptr, but the most common spelling now is Petter. Maria (or Mary on most censuses) was enumerated with her parents in June of 1880 in Lavaca County. Her age was given as 13. On January 13, 1885, she married Jan (John) Blahuta in the Praha Catholic Church in Fayette County. He was the son of George (Jiri) Blahuta and Maria Anna Nitrova. Maria and Jan had seven children before his death on September 06, 1897. In late 1899 or early 1900, Maria married Joseph Anton Hilscher. They were enumerated on June 28, 1900 and said they had been married zero years. Maria’s Blahuta children were also enumerated with them. She said she had had seven children and five were still alive. Maria and Joseph divorced sometime between May of 1910 when they were enumerated for the 1910 census and July 12, 1917 when Joseph’s first child with his new wife Louise Ganzert was born.
