Anton Kohut, 91, of West, a farmer, died March 8, 1986 in West Rest Haven Nursing Home. Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. March 9 at Kotch Funeral Home in West. Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. March 10 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in West, Monsignor B. J. Zientek as celebrant. Burial followed in St. Mary's Cemetery in West. Mr. Kohut was born May 4, 1894 in West. He was raised in West and had lived in Bomarton for a number of years beforfe moving back to West in 1965. He was a retired farmer and a musician, playing in the Kohut band. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the KJT Society No. 31. He was a veteran of World War I. His first wife, Sophie Marak, died in 1963. His second wife, Julia Gerik, died in 1974. Survivors include a brother, Rudolph Kohut of Seymour; a stepson, Ernest Gerik of Hubbard; and one stepgrandson. Pallbearers were: Willie Rejcek, Jody Rejcek, Albert Miller, Johnny Kluck, Leo Rejcek and Edward Rejcek. The family has designated the West Rest Havel Chapel fund for memorials.
