Bio

Former Hastings resident, Erma (Drapal) Kimminau Kirchen, departed this life and entered The Eternal Home at Good Samaritan Society, Wood River, Nebraska on November 14, 2009 at Wood River, Nebraska. Erma was 84 years of age having been born January 25, 1915 to John & Ludmila (Brychta) Drapal in Lawrence, Nebraska. Erna married Philip Kimminau on November 15, 1938 at Assumption Catholic Church in Deweese, Nebraska. They farmed and later moved to Harvard, Nebraska and owned and operated Phil & Erma's Tavern. After Philip died on February 6, 1964, Erma continued to manage the tavern until she retired and moved to Hastings, Nebraska. Erna married Ben Kirchen on September 14, 1990, at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church In Hastings, Nebraska and he preceded her in death on July 8, 2005. Erma was a wonderful cook and loved to dance. She was a member of St. Cecilia's Catholic Church, Altar Society and Catholic Daughters of the Americas all of Hastings, Nebraska. Erma Kirchen was welcomed into The Heavenly Home by her parents, John and Ludmila Drapal; husbands, Philip Kimminau and Ben Kirchen; daughter, Mary Ann Hoins; brother and sisters. Survivors are Sons & Daughter-in-law: Bud & Sharyl Kimminau of Wood River, Nebraska; Don Kimminau of Centennial, Colorado; Son-in-law: Dean Hoins of Crete, Nebraska; Sister: Sister Germaine Drapal of Omaha, Nebraska; Sisters-in-law & Spouses: Marge & Lynn Gardner of Kearney, Nebrasaska; La Veta & Roger Golden and Patricia Dickerson both of Hastings, Nebraska and a host of friends and relatives.
