Services are pending for Ernest V. Penner, 60, 311 E. 2nd St., who died Saturday at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital. Mr. Penner was born in Stockham. He had been employed 35 years as a signal maintenance worker for the Union Pacific Railroad. He resided in Salina, Kan., and Carleton, Neb., while working for the railroad. He moved to Hastings from Carleton 16 years ago. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, the American Legion and Eagles, all in Hastings. He was a charter member of VFW in Aurora, and was a veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife, Fern; two daughters, Mrs. Larry (Rosalie) Lange of Carleton and Mrs. James (Janet) Kopisch of Hastings; his mother, Mrs. Jennie Penner of Aurora; three brothers, LeRoy, Lawrence and Melvin, all of Aurora; three sisters, Mrs. Marion (Dorothy) Newlun, Mrs. Dale (Thelma) Fenster and Mrs. Maurice (Anne) Medaris, all of Aurora,
