Bio

Thelma J. Fenster, the daughter of Fred and Jennie Penner was born in Stockham, Nebraska on January 3, 1921 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on January 8, 2005, at the age of 84. Thelma grew up in Stockham, where she attended school. On November 9, 1940, she was united in marriage to Dale Donald Fenster in Dennison, Iowa. While Dale was in the service Thelma lived in Hampton, when Dale returned from the war they moved to Aurora, where they raised their family. In 1968, Thelma went to work at the Hamilton Manor. She worked there 16 years until retiring in 1984. Thelma moved to Colonial Corners after 1998 and enjoyed her extended family there. Thelma was a member of the Aurora United Methodist Church and Aurora V.F.W. Auxiliary. She liked to attend dances in Stockham, the Flying V, Liederkranz and the V.F.W. She enjoyed camping in the bus and fishing, spending time with her family and grandchildren and playing dominoes and cards. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and a brother, Ernest Penner. Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Larry Dale Fenster of Aurora, two daughters: Janice Kay (Lloyd) Opp of Aurora and Beverly (Keith) Collingham of Aurora; nine grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a two sisters Dorothy Newlun of Aurora and Anne Medaris of Olathe, Kansas; three brothers, LeRoy 'Fritz' Penner and Lawrence 'Curly' (Betty) Penner all of Aurora and Melvin 'Jake' (Elaine) Penner of Grand Island; sister-in-law, Fern Penner of Hastings and several nieces and nephews.
