Anna Maxine Medaris, the daughter of Fred and Genevieve (Austin) Penner, was born at Stockham, Nebraska on August 20, 1925 and died in Lincoln, Nebraska on October 31, 2006, at the age of 81. She grew up in Stockham and graduated from Stockham High School Class of 1942. Anna worked at the Grand Island Ordinance Plant, the Harvard Air Base and the Creamery in Aurora over the next ten years. On March 21, 1952, she was united in marriage to Maurice 'Mose' Medaris in Aurora. They lived on a farm south of Aurora until 1973, when they moved into Aurora. They moved to Olathe in 1993 to be near their immediate family. Mose passed away on April 14, 2001. Anna moved to back to Aurora in June 2005. Anna was an active member of the Federated Church (Presbyterian U.C.C.), where she was a Sunday school teacher for many years. She was also a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary and a sewing club for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two brothers, Ernie Penner and LeRoy 'Fritz' Penner, and a sister, Thelma Fenster. Those who remain to cherish her memory are her two sons, James E. Medaris and Jerry W. and his wife Jamie Medaris; grandson, Adam N. Medaris and granddaughter, Sarah K. Johnson of all of Lawrence, Kansas; two brothers, Jake Penner of Grand Island and Lawrence 'Curly' Penner of Aurora and a sister, Dorothy Newlun of Aurora.
