Clay County News (Sutton, NE), Thursday, August 27, 1987; pg. 9A Frank J. Cecava 1898 - 1987 DEWEESE - Frank J. Cecava, 89, died Thursday August 21 (sic) at the Bethesda Care Center in Blue Hill. Funeral mass was held Monday, August 24, at Our Lady of Assumption in Deweese with the Reverend Gary Gross officiating. Music was provided by Craig Buescher, song leader, and Dennis Washburn, organist. Casket bearers were Victor Cecava, Fred Maixner, Leo Sykora, Frank Lukas, Albert Maixner and Charley Hubl. Interment was at St. Martin Cemetery near Deweese. Recitation of the Rosary was Sunday night at Our Lady of Assumption. Mr. Cecava was born January 6, 1898, in Spring Ranch, NE. He was united in marriage with Hattie A. Cikan on October 28, 1924 in Omaha. They farmed in the Deweese Community till 1929, when they moved to a farm at Stratton, CO, then they moved to Montrose, CO. They returned and made their home in Deweese in 1950. During his lifetime Mr. Ceceva (sic) farmed, was a carpenter and a custodian. He retired in 1980 and has resided at the Bethesda Care Center since 1984. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hattie, who died October 26, 1970, one son, Francis John; 3 sisters, Agnes Lukas, Mary Maixner, and Stella Sykora; and 1 brother, Leo. He is survived by nieces and nephews and daughter-in-law Donna Tillett, Overland Park, KS
