Kucera of Deweese, and Frances Lukasek of Lawrence. ======================== The Lawrence Locomotive (Lawrence, NE), Thursday, November 22, 1934; pg. 1 Final Rites Held For Mrs. John Kucera Funeral services were held Saturday morning of last week at the Deweese Catholic church for Mrs. John Kucera, who passed away at the family home early Thursday morning. Services at the church at nine o'clock and at the grave were conducted the the Pastor Rev. Adrian Klepac . Pall bearers were Joe and Julius Karmazin, Albert, John and George Janda and George Herbeck (sic). Mrs. Kucera had been ill for several several (sic) months and although she had the best of medical treatment at Hastings and Omaha as well as at the home nothing could be done to restore her to health. Cause of death was pronounced as resulting from a brain tumor. The deceased, nee Frances Lucasek (sic), was born at Plattsmouth, Nebraska on Feb. 22, 1890 (sic) and had reached the age of 44 years, 8 months and 23 days. When a child she accompanied her parents to Nuckolls county (sic) and grew to womanhood on the farm, slightly over five miles east of town. On February 27, 1911 she was married at the Deweese Catholic church to John Kucera in the first wedding ceremony performed in the then new church. The couple settled on the farm located six miles east and two miles north of Lawrence, which remained her home until death. Surviving besides the husband, are five children, the eldest 21 and the youngest 10 years of age. The daughters are Rose, Evelyn and Mary Ann; the sons, Edward and Theodore. She leaves also a half-brother, Frank Lucasek (sic) of Lawrence as well as numerous other relatives. Her mother died over twenty-five years ago and her father, also has been dead for many years.
