Karazin (sic), Nuckolls Co., Neb. ==================== The Grand Island Independent (Grand Island, NE), Tuesday, March 28, 1978; pg. 2 Deaths Albert Skalka DEWEESE - Albert J. Skalka, 79, a native of Deweese, died Sunday at a Hastings hospital. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Assumption Church in Deweese with the Rev. Peter J. Gadient officiating. Burial will be in Our Lady of Assumption Cemetery. A rosary was to be recited Tuesday at 8 p.m. at the church. Memorials are suggested to Our Lady of Assumption Church. McLaughlin Funeral Home of Fairfield is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Skalka was a life-time resident of the Deweese community, He farmed and was a livestockman, grain storage handler and a farm equipment manufacturer. He was a member and former trustee of the Our Lady Assumption Church in Deweese, a member and former officer of the Catholic Workmen Lodge No. 140 of Deweese, and was a past member of the Deweese school board. Survivors include his widow, Mary; a daughter, Mrs. Margaret Nims of Long Beach, Calif.; four sons, Stanley of Grand Island and Leo, Alfred and Ivan, all of Deweese; 11 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a brother, Rudolph, of Hastings.
