The Fairfield Auxiliary (Fairfield, NE), Thursday, July 31, 1930; pg. 2 Born, Wednesday, July 30, a 9-pound son to Mr. and Mrs. Albert Skalka. ======================== Ivan J. Skalka was born July 30, 1930 to Albert J. Skalka and Mary Karmazin Skalka near Deweese, Nebraska and passed away July 27. 2012 at the Rose Brook Care Center in Edgar, Nebraska. Ivan attended rural school near Deweese and graduated from Fairfield High School in 1948. He served with the Marines during the Korean War. He farmed with his father and brothers. Ivan was a member of the American Legion Post 256 in Fairfield and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10045 in Deweese. Ivan is survived by: sister Margaret Nims of Irvine, CA. sister-in-law Norma Jean Skalka of Deweese, NE. Ivan was preceded in death by: parents, infant sisters, Helen, Alice and Marie and brothers Stanley, Leo and Alfred and sister-in-law Margaret Skalka. Interment was in the Assumption Cemetery, Deweese, NE.
