Borger News Herald - November 9, 1995 James "Jack" Martin Gilchrest, 73, Borger, died Wednesday, Nov. 8, 1995 in his home. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Highland Park Cemetery with Pastor David Tollett, pasto of Borger Christian Center, officiating. Burial will be by Minton-Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. A native of Snyder, he had been a Borger resident since 1947 moving from Memphis, Texas. He was employed by Fish Constuction Company, and was a member of Borger Christian Center. He was a World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a Sgt. with the Flying Tigers. He married Betty Dean on Oct. 10, 1957 in Borger. Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Johnny Gilchrest of Amarillo; and Darrel Gilchrest; two daughters, Karen Watson of Borger; and Tammie Ralph of Owensboro, Ky.; a brother, Albert Melvin Gilchrest of Borger; a sister, Faye McClahan of Fort Townsend, Okla.; and four grandchildren.
