Bio

John "Henry" McLeod, 83, of Amarillo, died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2000. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Southlawn Baptist Church with Pastor Greg Kinch and Pastor Jeff Messer officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Mr. McLeod was born in Emory and graduated from Emory High School. An Army veteran of World War II, he attended West Texas State College and later retired from Southwestern Public Service in 1981. He moved to Amarillo in 1945 from Seagraves. Mr. McLeod was a member of Southlawn Baptist Church and Disabled American Veterans. He also coached baseball for Kids, Inc. and Babe Ruth League. He married Edna Melton in 1945 at Plains. Survivors include his wife; a son, John R. McLeod of Houston; two sisters, Modie Coontz of Fort Worth and Katie Hughes of Maybank; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
