REGULAR TEXAS RANGER Thomas Pierce Young was born Sept. 6, 1887, in Albuquerque, Bernallio County, New Mexico, to John Calvin Lafett Young, (b. 1858, MS) and Martha Ann "Mattie" Wyatt (b. 1885, TX), He stood 5 feet 8 1/2 inces tall, had gray eyes, brown hair and a light complexion. As a youth he lived in McLennan County, Texas. On October 8, 1911, he married Dora Frances Burrier (b. 1890, TX), in Gillispie County, Texas. They raised three children. Thomas was a cowboy around Austin, Travis County, Texas. He joined the Texas Rangers as a Regular Ranger March 10, 1921--August 31, 1921 (private, Emergency Co. No. 1). He resigned. In 1920 he was a barber in Austin, Texas, and by 1930, he was a farmer in Willacy County, Texas. Thomas Young died at 44 years, 2 months and 5 days in McAllen, Hidalgo County, Texas. He is buried in Roselawn Cemetery.
