William Dowl Baker was born at Pauline, NE, on September 16, 1880, and passed from this life at the Mary Lanning Hospital on September 23, 1962, at the age of 82. He was a life long resident of the Pauline community, residing there on a farm until 1945. After that time he made his home with his children. For the past several months, he has resided at the Good Samaritan Village. He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle, and one son. Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Arthur Hager of Pauline, Mrs. Gus Kissler of Hastings, Mrs. Ernest Schmidt of Guernsey, Wy, Mrs. Ernest Reiman of Bladen, and Mrs. Darrell Lighthill of Hastings; three sons, Harold and Guy of Blue Hill and Floyd of Bladen, 25 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Services were held in the Pauline Methodist Church at 2 p.m. on Wednesday. The Rev. J. Frank Bartleson officiated and burial was in the Oak Creek Cemetery. Music was furnished by Mrs. O.G. Evans and Mrs. Vern Brown with Mrs. Darrell Bauder at the organ. Pallbearers were Leland Lighthill, Donald Kissler, William Schmidt, William Kile, William Baker and Eldon Wessels.
