Funeral services were held in the Pauline M.E. church Monday afternoon conducted by Rev. E.L. Watson, for Mrs. Dowl Baker, who passed away here at her home Thursday Evening following a short illness. Myrtle May Stethem, daughter of Dwight and Ella Stethem, was born southeast of Pauline in Clay County on March 11, 1891. On Oct. 21, 1908 she was united in marriage to Dowl Baker and resided on their farm about two miles south of Pauline until her death, on February 22, 1934 at the age of 42 Years, 11 months and 11 days. To this union were born, nine children, Agnes, Harold, Floyd, Jessie, Guy, Leona, Dorothy, Marie, and Maxine, all of whom are left to mourn her departure besides the husband: one daughter-in-law; her father and two brothers Guy, and Charley of Patricia, South Dakota: three sisters, Mrs. Nellie Montey of Campbell, Mrs. Lulu Schriner of Riverton and Mrs. Nettie Tabor of Kenesaw and also a host of other relatives and friend. Mrs. Alfred Lofquist and Mrs. J. W. McCleery sang, "Safe in the Arms of Jesus", "Nearer My God to Thee" and "Shall We Gather at the River?" accompanied by Mrs. Arthur Sime. The pall bearers were: F. O. Bourne, Roy Black, J. W. McCleery, John Krull, James Hesman, and E. V. Osgood. Burial was made in Oak Creek cemetery.
