Felix W. Simonetti was the son of Emilio and Filomena Simonetti of Maspeth, NY. While a cadet in the Army Air Force he married Arlene G. McNeel of North Platte, Nebraska on April 25, 1945. He served in World War II and in Korea where he piloted a C-46 transporting troops and equipment. After leaving the service he returned to civilian life with his family and living in Levittown New York until his death. He was a member of America's "Greatest Generation" who heeded the call to defend the country from the fascist threats of Nazi Germany and Japan. He never hesitated. He was at the front of the line in 1942 to volunteer. He came of age during the Great Depression and went on to distinguish himself by serving his country with honor and courage in World War II and in Korea. He served not for fame or recognition, but because it was the right thing to do. In this endeavor he proved himself more capable than he ever imagined. He was a decent and honorable man. He served his family and his country well.
