Bio

Ben A. Schroeder, 83, of Ross passed away Sunday March 4, 2001 at a Waco nursing home. Rosary will be recited 7:30 p.m. Tuesday (March 6) at Kotch Funeral Home Chapel in West. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West with the Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Martin's Cemetery in Tours. Mr. Schroeder was born July 2, 1917 in Tours. He was raised in Tours and moved to Ross in 1969. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the army. Mr. Schroeder married Wilhemina Otto in 1940 and she preceded him in death on Nov. 10, 1969. He married Georgia Sykora in 1978 and she preceded him in death on Sept. 29, 1984. Mr. Schroeder is survived by four sons, Donald Ray Schroeder of Teague, Kenneth Schroeder of Ross, John Lee Schroeder of Leroy and Larry Schroeder of Dallas; three daughters, Dolores Sherwood of Dillon, S.C., Janette Griffin of China Spring & Cathy Patterson of West; two brothers, Anton Schroeder of Lacy Lakeview and John Schroeder of El Cajon, California; a sister Angeline Schuetz of Dallas; 16 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
