John Eddie Marek, age 85, of West, passed away Wednesday night, January 8, 1992 at Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center in Waco. A rosary was recited on Friday, January 10 at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel by Msgr. George Doskocil. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10:30 a.m. January 11 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption with Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Burial followed in St. Mary's Cemetery near West. Mr. Marek was born January 25, 1906 in Hill County, near West, the son of Joseph and Johanna Marek. He married Mary Rose Losak on December 28, 1942 in West. She preceded him in death on May 22, 1983. He was a farmer and carpenter all his life before retiring in 1970. He was a member of S.P.J.S.T. Lodge No. 54 and also a life long member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Johnnie J. Marek and Betty of Waco; two brothers, Alfons A. Marek of West and Ben C. Marek of Lacy-Lakeview; two sisters, Lena Svacek of Fort Worth and Regina Bartosh of West; two grandsons, David Marek of Bryan and Steve Marek of Waco; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Albert Marek, Alfred Marek, Joseph Dederich, Freddy Losak, Benny Marek and Raymond Bartosh. Aderhold Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
