Services for Erma McLain-- Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 28 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in St. Paul for Mrs. Erma Y. McLain of St. Paul. Mrs. McLain died April 25 at a Grand Island hospital. Rev. Elton Walth officiated. Mrs. Elton Walth was accompanied by Mrs. Todd Speece as she sang "How Great Thou Art" and "Just A Closer Walk With Thee." Active Pallbearers were Tom Bahensky, Richard Bahensky, Richard Bahensky, Jr., Eugene Bahensky, Dan Bahensky and Gerry Grossart. Honorary Pallbearers were James Swinarski, R. W. McClure, Virgil Welsh and Clarence Southard. Burial was in Elmwood Cemetery at St. Paul. Arrangements were made by Jacobsen Funeral Home of St. Paul. Erma Yula McLain was born April 28, 1913, at Wolbach, the daughter of Richard and Emma Berney Grossart. She received her education at Wolbach and was a 1931 graduate of Wolbach High School. On November 8, 1935, she was united in marriage to Floyd McLain at Bartlett. They lived in St. Paul where she was employed at the Jacobs' Cafe. In 1941 they moved to Lynden, Washington until 1946 when they returned to St. Paul. In 1949 they purchased the Jacobs Cafe and operated it until 1962. She later worked at the Brehm Drug, St. Paul Liquor and at the time of her death was employed at the Swinarski Pharmacy. She was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, One Chapter No. 21 Order of the Eastern Star and the American Legion Auxiliary, all of St. Paul. She passed from this life on Wednesday, April 25, 1979 at the Lutheran Hospital in Grand Island at the age of 65 years. Survivors..... She was preceded in death by a brother, Joe and her parents.
