Bio
Ben J. Jares, age 97 of Waco, died Saturday evening, May 18, 2002 in West Rest Haven. Graveside services were held 2 p.m. Monday in St. Mary's Cemetery in West with Deacon Buddy Shieldes, officiating. Mr. Jares was born August 24, 1904 in Fayette County, Texas. He was employed at Swift and Company Cotton Oil Mill, in West for twenty eight years. He had been a resident of West since 1941. Mr. Jares married Lena Bounds October 14, 1941 in Cameron. He was Catholic. Survivors include his wife, Lena and one step-daughter Hazel Fulp, both of Waco and several nieces and nephews. Kotch Funeral Home of West was in charge of arrangements.
