Bio

Jefferson Elexander "Jeff" White was the son of Margaret Jane Davis and George A. White. He was born in Wrightsboro, Gonzales Co, TX on 3 January 1871. About 1878, Margaret died, possibly from complications of childbirth. Jeff's sister, Sue, became mother and father to him since his father was working much of the time. When he was about 15 years old, he went to work at Hook's Switch, Hardin Co, TX where he later met Mary Edith Baird, originally from Illinois. They were married in Hook's Switch on 7 April 1897. Jeff and Mary were the parents of: Roy Edwin White 4/16/1898 Louie Aubrey White 2/7/1901 Hazel Olga White (Mahan) 6/17/1903 Frank Ewing White 2/3/1908 Marjorie Edith White (Shutters) 11/29/1909 Annie Mae White (Thompson) 7/20/1912 Jeff eventually became an engineer for the Santa Fe Railway and later became refrigeration engineer for the T.S. Reed Company and the Stedman Company. Jeff subsequently became an engineer in an advisory capacity for the Yount-Lee Oil Company. When the company was sold, he retired. Jeff died on 8 September 1949 at the family residence, 2924 Magnolia Avenue, Beaumont, Jefferson Co, TX. Rev. W.W. Jones, pastor of the First Christian Church of which Jeff was a member, officiated at the funeral. Burial was in the Magnolia Cemetery, Beaumont, Jefferson Co, TX under the direction of the Pipkin-Braulin and Myers Funeral Home.
