Sapulpa Daily Herald newspaper, page 9, in Sapulpa, Oklahoma on February 25, 1971: Samuel H. Wilborn, retired farmer and Mounds, [Oklahoma] resident the past 25 years, died Wednesday [February 24, 1971] in St. Francis Hospital, Tulsa, [Oklahoma]. He was 75. Wilborn was born April 18, 1895 in Harrison, Ark., and lived in Texas before moving to Mounds. He was a World War I Army veteran, member of the Frye-Ward American Legion Post, and the Blue Bell Free Will Baptist Church. [Harrison Wilborn married Ellen [Ella] Beasley on October 10, 1924 in Sapulpa, Creek County, Oklahoma - OK ODCR Records online.] Survivors include the widow, Ella of the home; six sons: Roy G. of Mercedes, Calif., Ralph J., Rt. 2, Sapulpa, Clyde S., Santa Fe, N. M., H. Wilborn, Jr., Rt. 1, Mounds, Franklin D., and George M., both of Tulsa; two daughters: Mrs. Edna Mae Creason, Rt. 2, Mounds and Mrs. Ethel Faye Blair, Catoosa, [Oklahoma]. Also [surviving are] two half-brothers: Joe Coberly of Sulphur, [Oklahoma] and A. J. Coberly of Drumright, [Oklahoma]; three half-sisters: Mrs. Bessie Gaddis of Sulphur, Mrs. Nancy Gee of Rt. 4, Bristow, [Oklahoma], and Mrs. Ann Quinton, Rt. 1, Sapulpa; 18 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren. Funeral arrangements are pending with Owen Funeral Home, [Sapulpa]. Sapulpa Daily Herald newspaper, page 9, in Sapulpa, Oklahoma on February 26, 1971: Funeral rites for Samuel H. Wilborn, 75, Mounds, will be at 10:30 am Saturday at Owen Funeral Chapel. Officiating will be the Rev. Harry Dodd and the Rev. T. W. Smith. Interment will be in South Heights Cemetery, [Sapulpa]. Pallbearers will be Jim Newberry, Lou Roy Aktins, Ronnis Green, Tommy Gilbert, Leroy Greer, and Max Chambers. Honorary pallbearers include Bill Mooney, Herbert Wilson, Ray Roller, and Clint Roller. Wilborn died Wednesday.
