Bio

Gertrude "Gal" Machac, 86, of Ross, passed away Thursday, July 2, 2009, in Waco. Visitation will be from 12 to 2 p.m., Sunday, at Aderhold Funeral Home, West. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m., Monday in St. Mary's Cemetery near West, with the Rev. Ed Karasek officiating. Gertrude Clara was born near Tours, Texas, to the late Joe and Margaret (Uptmore) Schroeder. She attended Tours schools. She was united in marriage to Henry John Machac Sr. on October 1, 1940. Gertrude was a homemaker and helped her husband on the family dairy in Ross. She enjoyed cooking, baking kolaches, sewing, making homemade noodle soup, and keeping her home very neat and clean. She was preceded in death by her husband on Dec 27, 1989; a son, Henry John Machac Jr., three brothers; and a sister. Survivors include sons, Billy "Bill" Ray Machac and wife, Barbara, of Bremond, and Lawrence Frank Machac and wife, Donna, of Ross; daughter, Betty Pavelka and husband, Raymond, of Ross; nine grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; her dog, Nancy; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
