The Lawrence Locomotive (Lawrence, NE), Thursday, June 16, 1955; pg. 1 MRS. THEO. SCHUTTE PASSES AWAY Funeral services for Mrs. Theo. Schutte were held this morning from Sacred Heart church. Mrs. Schutte age 87 passed away about 7:00 o'clock Monday evening at St. Ann's Home in Concordia, Kansas. She suffered a stroke a couple of months ago from which she never recovered. She took a definite turn for the worse Saturday and the family was called to her bed side Sunday morning. Mrs. Schutte was a pioneer resident of this community until a few years ago when she left to make her home at St. Ann's in Concordia. She was the mother of Joe Schutte and Mrs. Elizabeth Szopieray of Lawrence, Henry Schutte of Hastings, and Mrs. Dora Kohmetscher of Blue Hill. ====================== The Lawrence Locomotive (Lawrence, NE), Thursday, June 23, 1955; pg. 1 FUNERAL SERVICES HELD FOR MRS. THEODORE SCHUTTE Funeral services were held for Mrs. Theodore Schutte Thursday, June 16, at 10:00 o'clock at Sacred Heart Church, Lawrence, Nebr. Rev. James Dillon offered the High Mass of Requiem with Rev. P. Lyons of Blue Hill present in the sanctuary. Grave side services were held at Sacred Heart cemetery where she was laid at rest beside her husband. Pall bearers were six grandsons, A.T. Schutte, Clarence Schutte, George Schutte, Robert Schutte, Otto Schutte, and Herbert Kohmetscher. Elizabeth Schroer, daughter of Englebert and Ann Schroer was born at West Point, Iowa, January 6, 1868 and died at Concordia, Kansas on June 13, 1955 at the age of 87 years, 5 monthsand 7 days. She came to Lawrence at the age of 14 years and worked in Superior until her marriage to Theodore Schutte on February 18, 1884 at St. Stephens church. They spent their married life on farms south of St. Stephens until they retired from active farming and moved to their home in Lawrence about 1922. When her health began to fail in 1946 Mrs. Schutte went to Concordia, Kansas to make her home with the Sisters of St. Joseph at St. Ann's Home. During her many years of residence in this community she gained the respect and love of her many friends by her cheerful and friendly disposition. To her children she was a devoted mother who leaves them the example of a truly christian life, well lived. She leaves to mourn her life 4 children; Henry Schutte of Hasting, Mrs. Dora Kohmetscher of Blue Hill, Mrs. Elizabeth Szopieray and Joe Schutte of Lawrence, 31 grandchildren, 93 great grandchildren and 3 great, great grandchildren. Her husband, Theodore Schutte passed away on October 13, 1937. Four sons, Steve, Lawrence, Herman and George also preceded their mother in death. The deceased is also survived by her only sister, Mrs. Mary Schutte of Indianola, Nebr. who was able to be present at the final rites. All her brothers, Frank, William, Gerard and Herman Schroer have passed away. Those from a distance who attended the funeral included Henry Schutte, Otto Schuttee, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Schutte, and Mr. and Mrs. Neal Descher of Hastings; Mr. and Mrs. Albert Kohmetscher and Velma of Blue Hill; Mr. and Mrs. Leland Ridgeway of Fairfield; Mrs. Ernest Meents of Hornick, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Schutte of Gothenburg; Mr. and Mrs. George Schutte of Clarks, Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Hoelting of Minden, Mrs. Mary Schutte of Indianola and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Sugrue of Bartley. ====================== Daughter of Henry Englebert Grabenschroer and Anna Grebmeier. All of Henry Englebert Grabenschroer's children except Frank, dropped the "Graben" and went by Schroer.
