The Lawrence Locomotive (Lawrence, NE), Friday, May 6, 1910; pg. 1 Henry Engelbert Schroer Was born her Herzfelt, Germany, February 18, 1830, and died at his home near Lawrence, April 29, 1910, aged 80 years, 2 mos. and a few days. Deceased came to America at about the age of 37, locating on a farm near West Point, Iowa, about the year 1868 where he resided until 1881, when he came to St. Stephens precinct purchasing the Newman farm which lay just across the line in Webster county, and for years tilled the soil of this place and became one of the successful farmers of that prosperous community. Mr. Schroer was a man well known and greatly respected for his integrity, honor, sincere regard for the rights of others, and his obliging, hospitable wars won the hearts of his neighbors to him, and in his death, though at the ripe age of four score years, they grieve with the bereaved that earthly association must now cease. Those of his immediate family who survive are: The wife of deceased, and sons, Frank of Ottumwa, Iowa, Wm. Schroer of Kalispell, Montana, Harman and Gerhardt, of St. Stephens. The daughters are, Mrs. Theo Schutte and Mrs. Harman Schutte. Funeral services were held at St. Stephens' church, at 2 p.m. Sunday. ====================== The information for the place of birth and date and place of death from a family tree book titled "The Grabenshroer-Schroer Family Tree and History" by Verne A Schroer. In it, Mr. Schroer speaks of corresponding with a distant relative from Koln, Germany, Mr. Robert Heimann. Mr Heimann located family records from St. Ida Catholic Church in Herzfeld, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany (pre-1970), and from the Catholic Archdiocese in Münster, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.
