12/11/1997- The Purcell Register: Funeral services were held Monday morning at Our Lady of Victory Catholic church for John H. Vieth of Lexington. Born 1/15/1900 in Munster, TX., Mr Vieth died 12/5/1997 in Sunset Manor Nursing Home in Lexington. He was 97. A long-time resident of Lexington, Mr Vieth moved to Oklahoma and met Leona Reeves. They were married 10/26/1923 and farmed for many years in the Lexington area. He retired in 1960. Mr Vieth was a parishioner of Our Lady of Victory. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Vieth & Thersia Flies Vieth, 5 brothers, Henry, Joe, Gus, Frank, & Bill Vieth and 2 sisters, Katie Hemmi & Mary Robertson. He is survived by his sisters, Francis Hilberts and Agnes Schneider of Scotland, TX., Thersia Elder and Bertha Elder of Canute, OK., Annie Walsh of Archer City, TX., and Angeline Prescher of Lexington. Rev Bill Ross officiated the Mass of Christian Burial with interment in the Lexington Catholic cemetery under direction of Yoakum-Damet Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Bob Allen, Randy Allen, Daniel Caldwell, Todd Caldwell, G.P. Farley, Paul Farley, and Rick Farley.
