Bio

Mary was a daughter of Ferdinand and Theresia Ostdiek. She married Joseph Brockman Oct 5, 1904 St. Stephens, Nuckolls, Nebraska. Their children included: Laura, Loretta, Edna Agatha, Leonard, Vivian, Urban, Alice, Leander, Vincent and Bernice. Mary lived her whole life in Nuckolls County, Nebraska She died at the age of 56. ==================== Mrs. Joseph Brockman Funeral services were held at St. Stephens Catholic church Tuesday morning at nine o'clock for Mrs. Joseph Brockman, who passed away at a Superior hospital Friday morning. The Rev. B.J. Haskamp , pastor, officiated at a High Mass of requiem and was in charge of services at the grave in St. Stephens cemetery. Mrs. Brockman, not in the best of health for the past two years, succumbed at the hospital, where she had undergone a major operation the day before. She had called from the operation and was apparently on the way to recovery, when a thrombosis developed. Mrs. Brockman was born in St. Stephens on March 1, 1885 and lived her entire life in the precinct. She was the daughter of Ferdinand and Theresa Ostdiek, pioneer residents of the precinct, her father being proprietor of a store in the then flourishing village of that name. On October 19, 1904 she was married at St. Stephens to Joseph Brockman. To this union was born ten children of whom nine survive as does the husband. Daughters are Mrs. Lawrence Lemke of Lawrence, Mrs. J.B. Monforten of Helena, Mont., Mrs. Clarence Peper of Guide Rock and Bernice at home. Sons living are Leonard, Vincent and Norman at home, Urban, a U.S. soldier stationed at Camp Lewis, Washington, and Leander, also in service at Camp Sibert, Boulder City, Nevada. Also surviving are four grand children; a brother Henry Ostdiek of Geneva and two sisters, Mrs. John E. Buescher of Lawrence and Mrs. Clem Witte of Cambridge. All of the children were present for the funeral as was the brother and sisters. A large congregation was present for the last rites, Pall bearers were nephews of the deceased as follows: Herman Ostdiek, Roy Witte of Cambridge, Arthur and Vernon Buescher, Alphonse and Edmund Brockman.
