James Lindsey (Babe) Hodges was born in Grayson Co, TX, the seventh child of James George and Margarett Hodges. Family history is...""Uncle Babe was in the posse that hunted down Dallas Hodges' killers. He was shot in the eye and the bullet lodged in his head. The bullet remained there for the rest of his life." And..."James (Babe) was a member of the same posse as Dallas and was shot under the eye. He did not loose the sight of his eye but died with the shot still in him. He lived to be 100. The bank robbers were not captured. This occurred in Gordonville, Tx when Babe was 17 years old. The posse crossed the Red River into Indian Territory." He married Emily Whitehead on July 03, 1879, in Hope, Dickinson Co, Kansas. They had eight children.
