Samuel is the son of Ephraim and Mary (Bowers) Bear. He 1st married Rebecca Myers. Their children are: John M Bear(1842-1864) Mary Jane Bear Shirey (1844-1891) Alfred Wesley Bear (1849-1917) & William Line Bear (1851-1923) His 2nd marriage was to Magdaline Ruby Sawyer. Their children are: Joshua Evans Bear (1854-1854) Samuel Ephraim Bear (1856-1942) His 3rd marriage was to Anna Catherine Christlieub. Thier children are: Emma Clarissa Bear (1865-1941) Adella Lavina Bear (1868-1868) Minnie Rebecca Bear (1870-1873) Brice Jacob Bear (1872-1917) OBIT: DIED At his late residence in Hickory township, this county, on Wednesday, Feb. 25th, 1880, SAMUEL BEAR, aged 67 years. Deceased is a brother of Mr. Ephraim Bear, of this city, and had been confined to his home for the past two years. In January, 1877, he was stricken with paralysis, for the effects of which he never recovered. The funeral will take place from the Boiling Springs Church on the 27th inst. at 10 a.m. Decatur Daily Republican; Decatur, Illinois. February 26, 1880; Page Three.
