Bio

Samuel is the son of Samuel and Magdaline Ruby (Sawyer) Bear. He married Minerva J Cox on September 11, 1879 in Macon County, IL. Decatur Daily Review 11/24/1942 Samuel Ephriam Bear,86 of Hickory Point township died today in Decatur and Macon county hospital where he had been a patient four day. Although He had been in failing health for more than a year he was active until 10 days ago. He was a member of the Boiling Spring church of God. Born in Newville,Pa,Feb. 13,1856 he came with his parents and has lived in Macon county since then. His family settled in the Bearsdale neighborhood and the area was named after his father. He was engaged in the grain business and a mercantile co. until his grain elevator was destroyed by a fire in 1902. He hen engaged in general farming,retiring in 1915. He was married to Minerva J.Cox at Harristown,Sept.11,1879 and she died in March of 1933. He leaves three sons, Ernest R of Rutledge,Pa.,A.Linn of Decatur and Clyvan P of Decatur. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.
