(Memorial)Pvt. Thomas E.L.Howle, Company A, 1st Alabama Regiment Infantry (Tallapoosa Rifles) (CSA). The Company roster listed him as Pvt. T. E. L. Howell. He was killed in the Battle of Ezra Church, Atlanta, Georgia, on July 28, 1864. His body was left on the field. Thomas E. L. Howle was the son of Thomas T. Howle and Pamelia Tyus Howle. Thomas E. L. was married twice. First, he married Elizabeth Ware 6 December 1849, in Chambers County, Alabama. They had one son, George Mickleberry Howle, born 11 September 1851 in Tallapoosa County, Alabama. Elizabeth died shortly thereafter, probably as a result of childbirth. Thomas E. L. married second, M.A.E."Malissa" Moore, July 25,1852, in Tallapoosa County, Alabama. They had six children: 1. Blount Hampton Howle, b. May 1853, 2. Mary Elizabeth Howle, b. April 1856, 3. Thomas Paxton Howle, b. Aug. 11, 1857, 4. Solomon Perry Howle, b. June 8, 1859, 5. Nancy C. Howle, b. abt. 1862, and 6. Sarah A. Howle, b. abt. 1864.
