Bio

Anastasia Helen Kucera, the daughter of Frederick and Mary (Cecava) Maixner, was born on March 26, 1906 on a farm near Lawrence, Nebraska. She passed away on April 23, 2006 at the Blue Hill Care Center in Blue Hill, Nebraska, at the age of 100 years, and 27 days. Stella as she was known grew up on the farm and attended country school. She was united in marriage to William Kucera on May 26, 1928 at St. Martins Church in Louchy, Nebraska. This union was blessed with three children. Stella was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church since 1962 and the Altar Society. She enjoyed sewing. Stella lived in the communities of Deweese and Lawrence, and in 1990 she moved to Hastings, Nebraska after the tornado destroyed her home. November 30, 2000 she moved to the Blue Hill Care Center where she resided until her death. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, on May 18, 1975; one brother, Fred Maixner, and two sisters, Mary Hamersky, and Helen Gruntorad; one grandchild, Edward Miller and one great-granddaughter Elizabeth Hubl. Survivors include her daughter, Agnes Miller and husband Alfred of Guide Rock, Nebraska, and two sons, Valerian Kucera and wife Virginia of Red Cloud, Nebraska, and Wenceslaus Kucera and wife Anita of Lawrence, Nebraska; 18 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, 4 step-great grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, 5 step great- great-grandchildren, and one brother, Albert Maixner of Fairfield, Nebraska, nieces, nephews other relatives and a host of friends. Mass of Christian Burial was held on Thursday, April 27, 2006 at 10:30 AM from the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lawrence, Nebraska with Father Loras Grell officiating. Arnold Miller served as lector, Gerald Miller served as acolyte, and altar servers were Nick Kucera and Nick Rempe. Music was "Here I Am Lord","On This Day O' Beautiful Mother", "How Great Thou Art", "You Will Raise Me Up" and "On Eagles Wings" with Emelia Kucera as soloist and Linda Ostdiek as organist. Rosary service was held on Wednesday, April 26, 2006 at 8:00 PM at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Lawrence, Nebraska. Pallbearers were Irvin Kucera, Wray Kucera, Leland Miller, Arnold Miller, Larry Kucera, and Randy Kucera. Interment was in the Sacred Heart Cemetery at Lawrence, Nebraska. Megrue-Price Funeral Home of Superior, Nebraska was in charge of the arrangements.
