Clay County News (Sutton, NE), Friday, April 17, 2008 EDGAR - Former Deweese resident Albert Maixner, 90,of Edgar died April 7 at Rose Brook Care Center of Edgar after a long battle with cancer. Rosary was April 12 at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church in Deweese with a Christian Memorial Mass following at the church with Father Loras Grell officiating. Inurnment was in the St Martin's (Loucky) Cemetery near Deweese. McLaughlin Funeral Chapel in Clay Center was in charge of arrangements. Maixner was born April 14, 1917 in Deweese to Frederick Sr and Mary (Cecava) Maixner. He received his education at the country school near Loucky. He was a lifelong farmer and resident of rural Deweese. In 2001, he moved to the Cedar View Apartments in Fairfield and in 2007 he moved to the Rose Brook Care Center in Edgar where he was residing at the time of his death. He had a great love for the land and was known as a local historian for the area and St Martin's (Loucky) Cemetery, He was a member of Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church. Maixner is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Fred Maixner Jr and three sisters; Mary Hamersky, Stella Kucera and Helen Gruntorad.
