Bio

"Virginia E. McCown Furgerson" [sic]. Virginia E. McCown Furgerson [sic] was born Aug. 17, 1851, in Logan [sic] Co. Miss. Her parents moved to Arkansas when she was about one year old, and settled near Nashville. She was married to Alford C. Furgerson [sic] Nov. 2nd, 1869, at Center Point, Ark., by Rev. W.M. Browning. She joined County Line Baptist church in 1867. Later she moved to Sevier County and united with the Oak Hill Baptist Church in which she lived a consecrated christian [sic] life until she was called home Nov. 30, 1916. No charge of any kind was ever brought against her. To Brother and Siter Furgeson were born seven children, five girls and two boys, two girls preceeded her to the land beyond. She leaves, to mourn her loss a husband, three daughters, two sons and a large concourse of relatives and friends. She will be greatly missed at Oak Hill church, being a faithful and regular attendant. She always interested in the welfare and upbuilding of her Master's cause she was called home. We, your committee reccommend [sic] that a copy of this Obituary be placed on our church record and a copy sent to the Baptist and also a copy to the Horatio Messenger to be published. Rebecca Reedy.
