Bio

Leota Odessa Hunt, 80, of Overbrook, OK, was born April 20, 1928, at Leon, the daughter of William Marion "Bill" and Lillie Hyman Buckhanon. She passed away Tuesday, October 14, 2008, in Mercy Health Love County, Marietta. A resident of Love County all of her life, Mrs. Hunt was a homemaker. She enjoyed camping and fishing and was well known for her crocheting, quilting and canning. Mrs. Hunt was of the Baptist faith. She and H.P. "Pete" Hunt were married December 29, 1982 in Marietta, and he preceded her in death on February 27, 2008. Others preceding her in death were her parents; three sons, Thurman Gilbert, Glen Gilbert and Carol Gilbert; a brother, Calvin Buckhanon; and a granddaughter, Stephanie Gwin. Survivors include four sons, Kenneth Gilbert of Healdton, OK, Johnny M. Gilbert and Ricky Gilbert of Ardmore, OK, and Jimmy Gilbert of Leon; four daughters, Carolyn Gwin of Tulsa, OK, Debra Key of Overbrook, Janice Cantrell of Gainesville, TX, and Cathy Dalton of Pauls Valley, OK; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Serving as casket bearers will be Glen Gilbert, Jason Abshire, Johnny Abshire, Steven Sparks, Alec Gilbert and Clayton Bratcher. Honorary bearers are Dr. Tom O'Connor, Dr. Vergil Smith, Brock Thomas, Danny Childers, Keith Childers, Joe Russell and Fred Ross.
