From Funeral, March 9, 1966--Mrs. Elizabeth G. Mason, known affectionately by her family and many friends as "Mommy," was born Nancy Elizabeth Griffith on September 3, 1875 near Farmersville in Clayburne Parish, Louisana, She was the youngest and last survivor of a family of 12 children. Her father was Isaac Elisha Griffith, brought up as a Quaker on a farm in South Carolina. After moving to Alabama, he married Catherine Hardin, when they became ardent Baptists. The couple then moved to Louisiana. When Elizabeth was 2 years of age, she traveled by covered wagon with her folks and the family to Whitney, Texas. ........Elizabeth Griffith met her husband, Willim Eugene Mason at Baylor University in Waco, Texas, where both were studying. A devoted Minister of the Gospel, Dr. Mason served in several pastorates. With their two daughters Elizabeth and Katherine, they came to Colorado in June 1913, when Dr. Mason was called to be Pastor of the First Baptist Church at Fort Collins.......In January 1916, Dr. Mason was called to become Pastor of City Park Baptist Church in Denver, and the members of the family became active in the Church and in Colorado Woman's College. Dr. Mason took leave of his pastoral duties long enough to serve as Field Secretary for the College, traveling Colorado to raise funds for a year until the influenza epidemic led to his death on December 16, 1918. Both Elizabeth and Katherine attended Colorado Woman's College, and Mother Mason served as House Mother at the College for two years. She was a faithful member of City Park Baptist Church for more than fifty years.....January 1916 to March 7, 1966 when she became a member of the Church Eternal. For most of that half century, she knitted faithfully for the American Red Cross, recognized by an appropriate award. Her family and a host of friends mourn her loss. "Mommy" is survived by her daughters, Mrs. Charles S. Leach and Mrs. Walter R. Eha; by 6 Grandchildren; Mrs. H. Thomas Nicholls, Jr. of Golden and Mrs. A. Kelly Hallman of Arvada; Charles C.
