Bio
Katherine "Katie" Lucille Livanec of Brazoria was born on April 22, 1918 in Topeka, Kansas to Wendelen and Annie Mock Giesie and passed away on Thursday, September 4, 2008 at Brazosport Regional Health System in Lake Jackson at 90 years of age. Katie was a 64 year area resident and a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Brazoria and served on the St. Joseph's Altar Society. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and Brazoria County Actions in which she was very active for many years. Katie leaves behind to cherish her memory sons, Gene Livanec and wife, Jessie, and Lester Livanec and wife, Chris, both of Brazoria; daughter, Diana Berry of Brazoria; son-in-law, Lowell Wayne Stuessel of Brazoria; and sisters, Theresa Urban of Cameron, Dora Brady of Brazoria, and Frances Hadash of Van Vleck. She also leaves behind 12 grandchildren, numerous great and great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. Katie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ladd Livanec; daughter, Janette Stuessel; brothers, Adam, Johnny, Carl, Louie, and Felix Giesie; and sisters, Josie Rosilier, Carrie Heinz, Lena Buenger, and Mary Krutilek. The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 7, 2008, from 2 pm until 4 pm at Baker Funeral Home in Brazoria. A Rosary will be recited at 4 pm on Sunday in the funeral home chapel. Katie's funeral service will be held on Monday, September 8, 2008, at 10 am at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Brazoria, with Father Tim Pham officiating. Burial will be at 2 pm on Monday afternoon at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg.
