The Banner-Press (David City, Nebr.), November 20, 1986, p. 3B, col. 2 Services held in California for Joseph C. Korinek Funeral services for Joseph C. Korinek of Salinas, Calif., were conducted Monday, Oct. 20, from the Struve and Laporte Funeral Chapel with Father Rohas officiating. Mr. Korinek, 80, died Friday, Oct. 17, following a lengthy illness. Pallbearers were John Von Brincken, Gene Johnson, Steve Cockran, John Struve, Dave McCabe and Dennis Browne. Burial was in the Pajaro Valley Memorial Park in Watsonville, Calif. Joseph C. Korinek, the son of James F. and Mary Chmelka Korinek, was born March 8, 1906, at Dwight. On Feb. 4, 1930, he was married to Clara B. Homolka at Immaculate Conception Church in Ulysses. They made their home in Ulysses until 1941, when they moved to Weiser, Idaho. They move back to Ulysses in 1947, and in 1953 they moved to Oakland, Calif. In 1971 they moved to Salinas, Calif. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Gerald Lee and Mary Korinek of Salinas; one brother, James of Ulysses; two sisters, Mrs. John (Laura) Young of Ulysses and Mrs. Leonard (Rose) Shipley of David City; four granddaughters, Linda Cockran and Joni Willis of Salinas, Jeri Maria Kelly of Savannah, Ga., and Teri Von Brincken of Reno, Nev.; and three great-grandsons, Matthew Cockran of Salinas, Frank Kelly, III, of Savannah, Ga., and Phillip Kelly of Savannah, Ga. His wife, Clara B. Korinek, who died Sept. 24, 1986; his parents and one sister, Mary Margaret Korinek Hruza, preceded him in death.
