When Ruelene Richard Chaney was born on September 12, 1921, in Van Zandt, Texas, his father, Homer, was 22 and his mother, Henrietta, was 22. He married Dora L. Jones on April 10, 1976, in Walker, Texas. He died on December 2, 1998, in Bell, Texas, at the age of 77. CHANEY, Ruelen Funeral services for Ruelen Richard Chaney, 77, Crawford, formerly of Canton, were held at 3 p.m. December 5 at the Eubank Funeral Home, Canton, with Rev. Louie Barron officiating. Burial was in Haven of Memories Memorial Park, Van Zandt County. M Chaney died December 2, 1998, in Temple. He was born September 12, 1921, in Canton to the late Homer H. and Henrietta Wade Chaney. He grew up in Canton and graduated from Canton High School. He volunteered for the Air Force during WWII and spent three years in Europe. Part of that time spent in the paratroopers. After the war he lived in Waco for 10 years, then moved to Huntsville where he operated an upholstery shop, and in 1987 moved to Crawford. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dora Chaney. Survivors include two sisters, Mary Edith Weldon, Canton, and Rosemary Chaney, Sacramento, California; brother, Homer Henry Chaney, Jr., Greenville; and half-sister Maxine Albrecht, Chalmette, Louisiana. Pallbearers were Cecil Tawater, Clarence Tawater, Charlie Tawater and Bozie Harris. Van Zandt News, Sunday, December 6, 1998, page 10A Cpl. Ruelene Chaney, son of Homer Chaney, grauated from Canton H.S. in 1941. He entered the Army Air Corps in 1942, trained at sheppard Field, Texas and Los Angeles, Cal; served in North Africa, Sicily, Italy, Normandy, Holland and Germany. Awarded Four Stars, Ribbons and $100 War Bond.
