OBITUARY January 14, 1953 "Sulphur Springs News-Telegram" Sulphur Springs, Texas Funeral arrangements for Jesse Calvin "Cap" Littrell, longtime Hopkins County resident, were pending Wednesday the arrival of his son, Jesse Calvin Littrell, Jr., who is stationed with the Army in Japan. He died Tuesday at his home near Ridgeway. He was born on January 3, 1878 in Lauderdale County, Alabama to James Moses and Mary Elizabeth (Hammond) Littrell and moved to Hopkins County with his family in his childhood. He married Lela Walker, who died in 1915, and later married Lillie Mae Thurman, who survives. Other survivors include his daughters, Mable Elizabeth Patterson of Commerce, Della Eloise Prenderville of Dallas, Mary Catherine Green of Cumby, and Thelma Raye Kirtley of Sulphur Springs; his sons, James Robert Littrell of Beaumont, Jesse Calvin Littrell, Jr. with the Army, Jesse Waller Littrell of Fort Worth, and Donald Dewain Littrell and J. D. Littrell, both of Emblem; his sisters, Della Mae Tice of Commerce and Mattie Ann Tice of Sulphur Springs; his brothers, James Andrew Littrell of Commerce and John Franklin Littrell of Ridgeway; his step-mother, Alice Littrell; fifteen grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
